OBAMAOBAMA!

Yes! I’ve been wearing my “YES WE DID!” shirt all day today and will continue to to so for the next week at school. Yeah my uni peers are totally jealous of my wikkid shirt. =)
I’ve been waiting a while for this to happen and it’s finally here! WOOHOO! I thought I’d celebrate with the first mixtape, of many many to follow, of acquiescetomusic!

Two Fingers is composed of Amon Tobin and Joe “Doubleclick” Chapman. I don’t know much about Doubleclick. But I know lots about Amon Tobin. Of his many LPs and countless EPs, Bricolage is one of my favorite records ever produced. Ever. Amon Tobin and Doubleclick work together to fuse trip-hop, boneshattering bass dubstep, and grime. MMMMmm what a mixture. And who is the MC behind most of the music?! SWAY!!! Man, he’s one of my fave grime artists alongside Durrty Goodz, and Roll Deep. I believe the LP is set to come out in Feb/March. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYUM I’m excited!!!

This LP is gon be monolithic.

Ok this is a late night post but I just really have to get this off my chest. Amidst all the fanasssstic record releases coming up (of which I’ve copped! baaaajajjaa), this is the MOST DISAPPOINTING of them all.

I didn’t really have exceptionally high expectations for this album because nothing can top their self titled debut in 2004, and the release after that, You Could Have It So Much Better, was well, pretty medicore and it WASN’T that much better contrary to what the title of this LP would have me believe.

I remember the first time I heard Franz Ferdinand; it was on Zane Lowe. “Darts of Pleasure” first drew me in. The world didn’t agree but soon changed their minds with “Take Me Out”. After that it was tour this, merchandise that, money money glamor rock fame wooohoo Scots! And it wasn’t a disappointing two hit band ooooh no. The ENTIRE 2004 LP is INCREDIBLE. Plus, they are AMAZING live.

Second LP release a year later. DO DO DOOOO YOU REALLY WANNNA DO DO DOOOO YOU REALLY WANNA WANNA KNOW?? One of the catchiest songs on the album for sure.  There are a few others on there but man it was overall a pretty big let down. Such high hopes!!! But you know, FF still stuck to their formulaic success, catchy hooks, catchy beats, catchy everything. The belting and wailing, the simple lyrics, the foot stomping!!! It was great! But not as foot-stompingly, head bashingly infectious like their 2004 LP. Still…OOOooooOO so good…

…while it lasted.

This image has been memorized onto my retinas for the past few months. This album cover will be burned into our memories as one of the best albums to be released in 2009 and probably one of the most inventive albums in a long long while.

Animal Collective’s album is due to drop in less than two weeks but music bloggers everywhere have pretty much been looping this for months now. I’ve read a lot of reviews, most of which are good, especially P4K’s 9.6 review on MPP.

People often,’though now not so much, don’t realise Kanye’s big hit “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” originally uses Daft Punk’s same titled song as the background sample. I have nothing wrong with sampling because music is sample upon sample upon sample, really. But give credit to where credit is due!

On that note, this is somewhat old news but I’m sure you fashionistas out there have noticed a pretty wikkid heart pin floating around on the chest of some big names in the biz, notably, Kanye West.

kanye-heart1

Kanye dresses himself quite nicely and definitely keeps up with fashion and sometimes sets his own trends, and in light of past events and the recent release of 808s and Heartbreaks (which I LOVED btw), some people have been pointing the heart-pin creation in the direction of Mr. West.

Yeezy sure makes it look good, esp on his interview with Conan which you can watch here.

The heart is a pretty cool accessory, I must say. But, it was created by these two dudes named Dee and Ricky, click on the picture to go to their store!
